DIVORCED AND SEPARATED

"Never let anything so fill you with sorrow as to make your forget the joy of Christ risen." Mother Teresa

During a separation or divorce there are many emotions inside your head and heart -- confusion, anger sadness, and fear to name a few. The Diocese of Cheyenne recognizes the difficult nature of life at this time and extends ministry to the separated, divorced or widowed through the Marriage, Family and Respect Life Ministry's Office.

Some of the methods of support through the Church and community are listed below.

Retrouvaille of the Rockies -- a program for couples with troubled marriages, including separated or divorced couples, who are willing to make an honest effort to enter a process designed for resolution of conflict. The program is designed to help heal and renew troubled marriages in rediscovering one another through frank and open dialogue. For information call Marriage, Family and Respect Life Ministry 1-800-788-4616 or (307-237-2723) or visit the website for Retrouvaille www.retrouvaille.org.

North American Conference of Separated and Divorced Catholics -- an organization responsible for creating a network of support for families experiencing separation and divorce. By means of conferences, member groups, leadership training, resources and liaisons with church and civic organizations, NACSDC has substantially improved the entire family's experience of divorce by addressing the religious, emotional, financial and parenting issues relative to separation, divorce and remarriage. NACSDC recognizes that separated and divorced people, through their vulnerability, suffering, courage, faithfulness and patient endurance bear witness to Christ and His redeeming grace to the world. They are not mere recipients of the Church's compassion; they are, as well ministers of that compassion. Write NACSDC at P.O. Box 360, Richland, OR 97870, of visit them at www.eoni.com/~nacsdc

Beginning Experience -- A weekend program for divorced, widowed and permanently separated men and women. Box 50794, Casper, WY 82605-0794.

New Beginnings -- an interdenominational local support group whose purpose is to provide the opportunity for individuals to work through the grief process of losing a partner through separation, divorce, or death. New Beginnings meets weekly on a year-round basis, working through a cycle of topics every sixteen weeks. Participants are invited to attend as often as they wish -- although experienced participants attest to an accelerated healing process by frequent attendance. Call LaVerne at 307-237-7333 or Jackie at 307-234-4368. The group meets every Thursday at 7 PM in the lower level of St. Patrick's Church, 400 Country Club Rd., Casper.
